The Rotterdam Lloyd line maintained a connection between Holland and their Southeast Asian holdings. This helped bring exotic inspirations to Europe’s Art Deco designers.

Debenham & Freebody! This is funny to see. I just have read Agatha Christie’s “Murder in the Orient Express”. In that book Hercule Poirot recognizes a lie of a witness about the name of suspect. The witness says it is “Freebody” but Poirot concludes it must be “Debenham” and explains the pressure on the witness generated the association of names due to the brand “Debenham & Freebody”. A Ms Debenham is on board of the train.
Vogue
Very nice collection of 30s Vogue covers. Very interesting is the “Vogue” mark is just the word and visually integrated in the art work.
