Edwin Armstrong standing on top of the antenna tower of RCA Broadcasting Station WJZ, Aeolian Hall, 42nd Street, N.Y.C., 400 feet above the street, in May 1923. WJZ was the first broadcasting station in New York City proper and the pictures were taken just before the opening ceremonies began. As a result of this stunt David Sarnoff declared the roof permanently “off limits” for Armstrong.
