Kittyinva: 1929 ad for Piggly Wiggly Stores. Shopping for yourself was a fairly new idea. Previous to the opening of grocery store chains, one asked the man behind the counter to get the items on your shopping list for you. (Think Ike Godsey’s store in “The Waltons”.)
